Best Mocktail Recipes to Try When Friends Drop In

Let’s face it……..the party don’t start until the drinks show up. There are times and occasions where alcohol may not be the best choice. Maybe you are throwing a soiree and some of the guests are pregnant or maybe you are having a party at work. Well, we did just that this week at the Best2podcast headquarters. We headed to BevMo and picked up the supplies. Our goal was to do some research on creating our best mocktail recipes. Tough job, but somebody has to do it. Here are a few of our favorites:

Not so Gin and Tonic

Tall glass of Tonic water add a 1/2 teaspoon of juniper berries

(You can also make a juniper berry concentrate by boiling 1 tablespoon juniper berries in 1 cup filtered water. The berries have a slightly sweet tasting interior! (add the resulting concentrate to tonic water to taste) You will never miss the alcohol. Gin, traditionally used in a gin and tonic, is made by distilling juniper berries.

Bloody MaryAnn

Tall glass of Tabasco brand Bloody Mary mix, ice, add a sprinkle of spices to kick it up many notches. We used Penzy’s brand of spices :

Paprika smoked Spanish style

Indian Celery Seeds

Turkish Oregano

Pizza seasoning (which makes anything taste amazing!)

Salsa & Pico

Freeze dried shallots ( if you have not discovered these yet, they will take your cooking to another level)

Garnish with a celery stalk and you have a meal in a glass.

Little Miss Mojito

Muddle fresh mint and a lime wedge in a glass, add ice and pour in Cindy’s favorite: Diabolo brand mint lemonade french soda. If you can spot the flavor of sugar additives like stevia and don’t like them, try Sam’s version using any brand of lime soda that you like instead. All you need is an eco-friendly straw and a beautiful glass to dress this mocktail up for the party.

Once you use this in a dish, you will never go back. It adds amazing flavor to any savory dish. Frankly, we have not found anything it can not make better. This is our best find.
