Sam's Latest Obsession

My latest obsession is a YouTube channel that I found in a flight magazine from Canada. It is rare that I find anything that I follow up on from those flight magazines in the back of the seat in front of you. They seem to be a glob of sales ads served up to literally a captive audience. With no internet and boredom setting in, I picked it up and began to thumb through page by page and came across an article on this YouTube channel. The author of the article claims to have taken a visit to this fairy tale place where Liziqi picks the freshest fruits and vegetables from her garden that seems to be stocked with every fruit and vegetable imaginable. She makes everything from scratch and I do mean everything (she made her grandma some shoes!). She gathers silk from actual silk worms and in one of the videos I have dropped for you below to take a look, she makes soy sauce from soybeans beginning to end and cooks an amazing dish with it.

Because the channel is on YouTube, I know there is technology somewhere on the fairy farmland, but I like the illusion of this place existing and getting lost in the illusion of almost Garden of Eden like perfection. There seems to be a perfect blend of creativity, calmness, nature and zen. It is completely relaxing to watch. Sure, it probably is a propaganda tool for China, to try to show how wonderful the Chinese countryside is but 7.8 million people (that now includes me) really are enjoying it. When I first viewed it, I literally binge watched 5 episodes. I like the mix of cooking and back to nature. In the video below, she makes a bamboo sofa! Complete with the cushions to go on it…..what!

All I can say is that it is my new go to channel when I want to learn something new and totally relax at the same time. Full screen, sound on and captions on, so I know what is going into the dishes being made. Take a look and drop a note in the comments below to let me know what you think and if you have found a new channel that you are binge watching. Thanks!
